WHY WOULD I TAKE IT?
Look - we’ve all seen creatine products before, but did you know that the actual creatine transporter that gets creatine to your bloodstream and to your muscles is actually dependent on electrolytes? By adding electrolytes to your creatine, creatine transport is actually facilitated at a more efficient rate and you’re taking positive steps to maintain overall hydration levels and replacing the mineral salts that are usually lost through perspiration (sweating).
HOW DOES THIS WORK?
The combination of electrolyte salts and creatine is actually centered around the creatine transporter SLC6A8 - a member of the “solute carrier family” that is dependent on sodium and chloride - two crucial electrolytes that are needed for creatine to access its transporter. So, by providing these key electrolytes - you’re also supporting more efficient transport of the creatine you’re consuming.
Creatine Monohydrate
Creatine is a molecule that is a combination of three amino acids methionine, betaine, and arginine - but not quite a peptide. These three amino acids each contribute a part of themselves in order for the creatine molecule to be formed. Once formed, creatine actually helps transport phosphate groups to ADP (Adenosine Diphosphate) resulting in the formation of more ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate). Additionally, Creatine is also considered to be an osmolytic compound, and therefore improves resistance to osmotic stress. This means that it helps get more water into muscle tissues and actually helps it stay there for better strength and size gains.
Astrolyte™
This blend is new from Glaxon. It’s an electrolyte blend that provides supplemental dosages of Magnesium, Sodium, Potassium, and Chloride which are essential for every cell in the body and for maintaining hydration levels. Astrolyte™ also features the addition of fructooligosaccharides (FOS) which can also support electrolyte absorption in the large intestine, while selectively feeding beneficial gut flora.
HOW MUCH SHOULD I TAKE?
LOADING PHASE: In order to reach full muscle phosphocreatine saturation within a week - 2 scoops (1 serving) are to be taken at 4 intervals throughout the day mixed with water, juice, or beverage of choice for a total of 5-7 days.
MAINTENANCE PHASE (Non-loading): 2 scoops (1 serving) are to be taken daily and mixed with water, juice, or beverage of choice - best consumed post-workout. This regimen can achieve full muscle phosphocreatine saturation within about 30-days.
